子どもの歯ブラシを選ぶポイント

夏休み中の息子を連れて、久しぶりに映画を観ました。
やっぱり、家のテレビとは比べものにならないくらい迫力があり、あっという間の２時間でした♪

子どもをむし歯にさせたくない！でも、うちの子は歯みがきがとにかく嫌い…。
そんなパパ・ママの声をよく聞きます。
一生自分の歯で食べていくために大切なのは、０歳からの歯みがき習慣。
でも、５歳以下の子どもの約４割は自分で歯を磨くことが定着していないのが実情です。
子どもが自分から進んで歯をみがくよう習慣づけるため、年齢ごとに適したハブラシの選び方をご紹介します。

【0～2歳・乳児期】

ハンドルは、子どもが握りやすい真っ直ぐで太めのものを選びましょう。
万が一転んでしまったときなどのために、ハンドル部分が曲がるものだと安心です。
毛のかたさは、子どもの口にやさしい「やわらかめ」が良いでしょう。

【3～5歳・幼児期】

幼児期とはいえ、まだまだ手が小さいので、ハンドルは、真っ直ぐで太めのものを選びましょう。
万が一転んでしまったときなどのために、ハンドル部分が曲がるものだと安心です。
毛のかたさは、しっかり磨ける「ふつう」がおすすめです。

【6～12歳・生えかわり期】

ハンドルは真っすぐで、奥歯まで磨ける長さのものを選びましょう。
奥歯の奥までしっかり磨くため、ヘッドは薄くてコンパクトなものが良いです。
毛のかたさは、しっかり磨ける「ふつう」が良いでしょう。

子どもが自ら進んで歯を磨くようになるには、年齢に合った歯ブラシを使うことがポイントです。
また、子どもが好きなキャラクターなど、イラスト付きの歯ブラシを選んであげると、歯みがきがより楽しい時間になるかもしれませんね。

なんだか老けた？歯茎が原因かもしれません…

なんだか老けたような気がする…。
そう感じるのは、歯茎が下がっているのが原因かもしれません。
実際に、歯茎が下がると、平均で9.7歳老けて見えるというアンケート結果もあります。

本来、歯茎は歯を支える役割を果たすために、歯の根元をしっかり固定しているものです。
これが加齢や歯周病、間違った歯みがき方法によって、歯茎が下がってしまうことがあります。
また、歯並びや噛み合わせが悪いと、知らず知らずのうちに歯茎に負担がかかり、歯茎が下がる原因になることもあります。

1回下がってしまった歯茎は、自然に治ることはありません。
健康な歯茎を取り戻すためには、まず歯医者さんに相談してみましょう。
再生手術と呼ばれる治療法があります。

矯正をすると英語が上手になる！！

日本人が英語学習をしていると、よく悩まされるのが「R」と「L」、「s」と「th」の発音ではないでしょうか。
日本語にはない複雑な発音方法なので、特に難しいですよね。

これが矯正によって上手になる、とはどういうことでしょう？

実は、発音には歯並びが大きく影響しています。
日本語は、口の前の方で発音するものが多く、あまり口唇周囲筋を使わずとも発音できます。
また、単語を理解するのに、発音があまり大きく影響しないため、歯並びによる影響が問題視されることは多くありません。

しかし、英語は口の奥から唇の先までの広い範囲の口唇周囲筋だけでなく、舌も使って発音します。
歯並びが悪いと、この舌の動きが制限されてしまい、上手に発音できないことがあります。

例えば「R」と「L」は、歯を基準にして舌を動かすので、多くの人に英語を聞き取ってもらうには、良い歯並びと正しい発音が重要になってきます。
「s」と「th」の発音でも同様です。
上下の歯がきれいに噛み合っていないと「th」を発音するとき、空気が抜け過ぎてしまい、正確に発音するのが難しくなります。

「英会話スクールに通って発音の練習をたくさんしているのに、全然上達しない」という人は、「歯並び」が原因かもしれません。

口の中にカビが生える？！

お祭りに向けて、子どもたちが踊りの練習をしています。
まだまだ上手ではありませんが、昨日初めて面をつけての仕上げをしました。
ひょっとこや笑い面、おかめなどのお面のおかげで可愛くなりました。

「口の中にカビが生える！」なんてありえると思いますか？
実は、決してめずらしいことではなく、むし歯や歯周病に次いで多い口内トラブルなのです。

口腔カンジタ症といって、カンジタ菌という真菌によって引き起こされます。

・舌が腫れている
・口の中がピリピリ痛い
・白い膜が付いている

口の中にこのような症状がでたら、口腔カンジタ症かもしれません。

カンジタ菌は誰の口の中にも存在する日和見菌で、健康で免疫力がある口内では増殖することはできません。
しかし、ストレスや体調不良・栄養不足などで免疫力が落ちると増殖し、口腔カンジタ症を発症します。

口腔カンジタ症は、放置しても命に関わる病気ではありませんが、症状が進行すると口内全体に広がり非常に不快です。
治療には抗真菌剤を使用するのが一般的です。

しかし、抗真菌剤に頼り切りにならずに、免疫力を回復させ口内細菌のバランスを正常に導くことも大切です。
生活のリズムを見直し、健康的な生活を目指しましょう。

麻酔後の食事は危険がいっぱい！

音楽や踊り、内容もとてもよかったので、もう一度観に行きます♪

重度の虫歯治療など色々な場面で、麻酔を使うことがあります。
治療後まだ麻酔が効いているときに、食事は控えるよう注意を受けますがそれはなぜか知っていますか？

麻酔が効いている間は、口の中の感覚が鈍くなります。
そのため、もし誤って口の中を噛んでしまってもほとんど痛みを感じません。
また、熱いものを食べた場合、やけどをしても気づかないことがあります。
普段と同じ食事でも、多量の出血や腫れなど大きなけがに繋がりやすいため、食事はとらない方が好ましいのです。

しかし、時間の都合でどうしてもお腹が空いてしまうときもありますよね。
特に子どもに我慢させるのは難しいものです。

その場合は、なるべく柔らかく、適温のものを食べるようにしましょう。
冷めたおかゆやうどんがオススメです。
ゼリーやプリンは、歯科治療を頑張った子どもへのご褒美としても良いですね。

もちろん時間を調整して、食事を控えることが１番好ましいです。
また、麻酔の持続時間は治療の内容や、患者さんの状態によって異なりますので、遠慮せず聞いてくださいね。

初めてでも簡単！How to デンタルフロス

毎日しっかり歯をみがいているつもりでも、歯と歯の間には歯垢が残ってしまっているもの。
デンタルフロスは、歯ブラシの毛先が届きにくい歯と歯の間の歯垢を取り除くことができるとても効果的なアイテムです。

今回は、その簡単な使い方をご紹介します！

デンタルフロスには、大きく分けて2種類あります。

1. 【初めての方におすすめ】ホルダータイプ

ホルダーにフロスが取り付けてあり、手間がかからずにすぐ使えるので、デンタルフロスを初めて使う方におすすめです。
デンタルフロスを歯と歯の間に入れ、上下に動かして隣り合った歯の両面を磨きます。
磨けたら、ゆっくり横に動かしながら取り出します。

2. 【経済的】ロールタイプ

必要な長さのフロスを切り取り、指に巻きつけて使用します。
初めは少し扱いにくいのですが、慣れてしまえば簡単で、しかも経済的です。
１回の使用分（約40cm）くらいを取り出し、左右の中指に2〜3回巻きつけ、指と指の間を1～2cmの長さにします。
歯と歯の間に入れ、歯に巻き付けるようにして上下に動かし、歯石を落とします。
磨けたら、ゆっくり横に動かしながら取り出します。

はじめは難しく感じるかもしれませんが、慣れてしまえば簡単です。
是非挑戦してみてくださいね。

「歯」のホワイトニングは、昔に比べて一般的になってきました。
さらに現在の歯科医療では、「歯茎」のホワイトニングも行っているのをご存知ですか？
この技術は、ガムピーリングや歯肉ホワイトニングと呼ばれます。

歯茎が黒ずんでいて不健康に見えるという悩みや、歯のホワイトニングを行ったけれども、歯茎の黒さが気になるといった場合に効果的です。

そもそも歯茎が変色するのは、多くの場合、メラニン色素の沈着が原因と考えられます。
喫煙や過度の力を入れたブラッシング、口呼吸などの刺激により、通常は対外に排出されるはずのメラニン色素が沈着することで起きます。
ガムピーリングは、このような原因で色素沈着した歯茎にピーリングの効果があるホワイトニング剤を塗布し、変色を起こした部分を剥がし取ります。
そうして新しい歯肉を再生させることで、歯茎の変色を解消するという仕組みになっています。

歯茎のホワイトニングは、黒ずんでしまった不健康な歯茎をピンク色の綺麗で健康的な歯茎に戻すことのできる魅力的な技術です。
