連休に香川県の小豆島（しょうどしま）に
行ってきました！
空気も良く、自然も多く
ジブリの魔女の宅急便の聖地でも有名です。
突然ですが、あなたは歯ぎしりしてますか？
自分では気づかないうちに歯ぎしりしている方は、
実はたくさんいます。
歯ぎしりの原因はストレスが
大きく影響しています。
ストレス管理が根本的な解決になりますが、
ストレスをゼロにすることはできないので、
自分なりのリラックス法を見つけたり、
適度に息抜きしながらストレスができる限り
かからないように努めることが大切です。
先日、当院に初めて来院された患者様の
お口の中をみてみると
全体的に歯が大きく削れていました。
前から数えて3本目の歯は犬歯（けんし）と
言いますが、本来この歯の先端は尖っていて
糸切り歯（いときりば）とも言われます。
犬歯は他の歯に比べて根っこが長いため、
頑丈で寿命が長い歯でもあります。
顎を前後左右に動かした時に奥歯に
負担がかからないようにしてくれる
重要な役割があります。
この患者様は、犬歯もかなり削れていて
本来先端が尖っているはずなのですが
真っ平らに形が変わるほど削れていました。
患者様にご自身の歯が削れている
写真を見せると驚いていました。
歯ぎしりしているか聞いてみると
「歯ぎしりしてると思います。」と言っていました。
歯ぎしりをすることで
自分の歯は削れていくのですが、
金属の被せ物や詰め物は削れないので、
このまま歯ぎしりを続けることで
被せ物や詰め物が入っている歯だけが
噛み合うようになります。
また神経がない歯は、
神経がある歯に比べて脆い（もろ）ので、
強い力がかかることで根っこが折れてしまい
歯を抜かないといけない可能性があります。
そうならないためには、
ストレスをできるだけ減らすとともに
夜寝る時専用のマウスピース
「ナイトガード」をはめることで
無意識のうちに歯にかかる負担を
減らすことが大事です！
