まだお客さんも少なかったので、ゆっくりコーヒーを飲みながら優雅なひとときを過ごすことができて幸せでした。

６月４日から本日１０日は、歯と口の健康週間です。
今年のスローガンは、「一生を 共に歩む 自分の歯」です。
『一生自分の歯で美味しいものを食べ健康で過ごしましょう』という願いが込められています。
この機会に、健康な歯でいられるためのケア方法などを見直しましょう。
そこで今回と次回は、毎日の歯磨きに使用する歯ブラシ選びのポイントについて、ご紹介します。

お口のトラブルを予防するには毎日の歯磨きが大切ですね。
せっかく毎日継続して磨いていても、歯ブラシの形状によっては、口の中を傷つけてしまったり、汚れが落としづらかったりすることがあります。
いい歯ブラシを選んで、しっかりと汚れを落とす歯磨きの技術をつけるのが大切です！
今回は、いくつかの歯ブラシ選びのポイントの中から、
【ヘッドの大きさと形】についてをご紹介しようと思います。
歯ブラシ選びで大切なポイントがヘッドの大きさだと聞いたことはありませんか？
ヘッドが小さい歯ブラシの方が良いと言われたり、ヘッドが大きい歯ブラシの方が能率良く磨ける、など色んな説を耳にするかと思います。
歯科医師や歯科衛生士によっても勧める歯ブラシが違ったりして、なんだか混乱してしまいますよね。
小さいヘッドを勧める派の考えは、大きめのヘッドでは奥歯や歯の隙間に歯ブラシの毛先が届きにくく汚れが残りやすいけれども、小さめのヘッドであれば細かいところや歯と歯の隙間まで丁寧に磨くことができる、という考えです。
しかし、ヘッドが大きい歯ブラシで磨くと、小さいヘッドのものより毛の本数が多いので能率良く短い時間で磨けます。
お家をお掃除するときに、掃除機の吸う部分が大きいものは小さいものよりも短い時間で掃除できるのと同じ理屈です。
みなさんが忙しい毎日の中で短い時間できちんと歯ブラシするために、歯ブラシメーカーは大学や開業医とコラボして色々な実験を行っており、最近ではとても良い歯ブラシが手に入るようになりました。
その代表的なものを今日は２つ紹介します。
ひとつは、スウェーデン製のTePe (テペ)。
これは、むし歯予防の先進国スウェーデンで８０％もの人に使われている歯ブラシです。
これが何故これだけ支持されているかというと、ヘッドは大きめなのですが先にいくほど細くなっているため、細かいところまで届きやすい特徴があるからです。
また、握る部分に人間工学的な配慮がされています。
年配の方や手が不自由な方でも握りやすい設計がしてあったり、小児用は子どもが握りやすい設計にしてあります。
また、女性用にはコンパクトサイズだけれども決して小さくし過ぎてない歯ブラシもあります。
理事長の原田幹夫は、以前スウェーデンのマルメ大学でこの歯ブラシの人間工学的な配慮に関する実験の講義を受けたのですが、いかにも勤勉なスウェーデン人らしい実験をするものだと感心したそうです。
もうひとつは、スイス製のクラプロックスです。
こちらは、毛の色がとてもカラフルでお洒落な感じが最近話題の歯ブラシです。
この歯ブラシが売れているのは毛の色がたくさん種類があるというだけではありません。
磨いた後に歯がツルツルになるのです！
ただ、歯科衛生士の多くはこの歯ブラシを見たとき、見た目からこんなのダメと思うらしいです。
しかし、説明を受けて使って見るとたちまちファンになるのがこのクラプロックスです。
その秘密は、柔らかくてコシのある毛が何と5460本もあることです。
一般的な歯ブラシの毛の数が約1000本なので、約5.5倍もあるこの毛束で歯をツルツルにしてくれます。

【Head size and shape】I would like to introduce about.
Have you ever heard that the size of the head is an important factor in choosing a toothbrush?
You may hear various theories that a toothbrush with a small head is better, and a toothbrush with a large head can be brushed more efficiently.
Different dentists and dental hygienists recommend different toothbrushes, which can be confusing.
The idea of recommending a small head is that with a large head, the tips of the toothbrush do not easily reach the back teeth and the gaps between the teeth, and dirt tends to remain. The idea is that you can.
However, if you brush with a toothbrush with a large head, you can brush efficiently and in a short time because there are more hairs than with a small head.
