神経をとった歯は、一生もつ？

虫歯がひどくなると歯の神経を取って治療をしなければならない場合があります。

神経を取って治療した歯は、その後、一生持つのでしょうか？

歯の神経とは、「歯髄（しずい）」のことを指します。

歯髄には次のような役割があります。

・歯に加わる刺激を感受する機能
・歯へ栄養の供給
・象牙質の形成
・歯が何らかの損傷を受けた際の防御反応

歯髄を取り除くとこれらの機能も失うことになりますので、歯へのさまざまな現象に対して自覚症状がでにくく、歯がもろくなりやすい状態となってしまいます。

神経を取った歯を長持ちさせるには、ふだんの歯のお手入れが不可欠です。

丁寧なブラッシングや、歯医者さんでの歯の調整、定期クリーニングを続けましょう。

きちんと歯の管理を続けることができれば、一生持たせることも可能となる、はずです。

歯医者さんとしっかり連携して、治療後の状態を保ち続けましょう！

グラグラ乳歯は抜いていい？

今年も映画をたくさん観ましたが、どれもすごく好きです！
2020年は過去最高のムービーイヤーになりそうです。

乳歯がグラグラしてくると子どもはそればかり気にして触ってみたり、食事がしにくいと言ったりします。

そうなると自分で抜いて良いのか、それとも自然に抜けるのを待つのが良いのか悩むところですね。

基本的には、無理に抜かず歯医者さんに相談をしましょう。

グラグラしている度合いが大きく、今にも抜けてしまいそうな乳歯であれば、歯医者に行かなくても自然と抜け落ちることがあります。

痛みなどの支障がある場合は、自分で無理に抜かずに歯医者さんに相談することがおすすめです。

今にも抜けそうな乳歯で、どうしても気になるといった場合は、自分の舌や指で歯を揺らすことで自然に抜けることを促すことができます。
自分で引っ張って様子をみるなど手を使用する場合には、ばい菌の侵入を防ぐために、手を洗うなど清潔に保つことが大切です。

かわいい乳歯から永久歯に生え変わるのは成長の大きな一歩です。

乳歯の抜き方は基本的に自然に任せて無理をせず、困った時には歯医者さんに相談しながら進めましょう。

口の中に血豆が？大きな病気だったらどうしよう…

食べ歩きをするのが楽しみです♪

口の中に血豆が、ある日突然できて焦ったことはありませんか？
しかも、1度できると同じ箇所に何度もできることもあり、何か大きな病気の前触れなのかな…と不安になる方もいると思います。

口の中に血豆ができる原因は、睡眠中の歯ぎしりや食いしばり、食事の時などに頬などの口腔粘膜を噛んでしまうことです。

朝起きた時に気づく方は、夜寝ている間に歯ぎしりや歯を食いしばっていることが多く、また固い食べ物を食べた時、気づかないうちに口腔粘膜を傷つけ血豆ができることもあります。

大きな出血もなく、知らない間につぶれてなくなっている場合は、そのままにしておいても問題ありません。

しかし、良性腫瘍である血管腫の場合は、消えてなくなることはありません。
血豆がなかなか治らない場合には歯科医師または医師に相談しましょう。

また、血豆ができてしまうのには、歯並びが関係していることも多いです。

長期にわたって繰り返し血豆ができてしまう場合は、どの歯が血豆の原因になっているのかを調べてその歯の形やかみ合わせを少し調整すると解消されることもあります。

血豆ができる頻度が高いときには、歯医者さんに相談してみてくださいね。

顎関節症の原因にも？正しい口の位置を知ろう！

今あなたの歯は、上の歯と下の歯がくっついていますか？
それともくっついていませんか？

食べたり飲んだり喋ったりしている時ではなく、何もせず普通に口を閉じているとき、お口の中はどうなっているのが正解なのか知っていますか？

正解は…

上の歯と下の歯は自然に離れている状態です！
舌は歯には触らず、舌先が前歯の後ろの上あごにピッタリとフィットしてします。

これとは逆に、上下の歯がくっついているということは、あごの筋肉に力が入っている状態ということです。
この緊張状態が続き疲労がたまってくると、顎関節症の症状や噛み合わせの悪化が起きるだけでなく、歯が傷みやすくなり、欠けてしまったり、詰め物が外れやすくなったりといった影響が出てきます。

この上下の歯をかみ合わせるクセがあると、下のような症状があることが多いです。

・顎関節症
・噛み合わせに問題がある
・歯を治療した後の詰め物や被せ物が壊れやすい
・噛み合わせの違和感が続いている
・歯周病の治療をしてもなかなか症状が改善しない

無意識で行っているため、このクセはなかなか治りません。
もし無意識に上下の歯を噛み合わせているように感じている方は、あごの力を抜いて上下の歯を離すように心がけてみてください。

食事以外のときは、歯もリラックスさせてあげましょう！

子供が寝ている時に、歯ぎしりをしていることに気づいたという保護者の方も多いのではないでしょうか？
体に影響がないか心配になる方も少なくありません。

子供が歯ぎしりをする例は実は多く、いろいろな原因があることがわかっています。

子供の歯ぎしりは、基本的には歯や骨格など、体の成長に伴うものがほとんどです。

歯が生えたばかりの乳児の頃から見られる歯ぎしりは、本来歯があるべき場所を探す行動とされています。
哺乳時の顎の動きと噛む時の顎の動きは違うため、下顎が安定し、噛む時にちょうど良い位置を見つける必要があります。

つまり、赤ちゃんの歯ぎしりは歯の感覚を覚えたり、歯や顎が成長している証拠とも言えます。

もう少し成長すると、今度は顎が大きくなるにつれて歯と歯の間に隙間が生じてきます。
このような咬み合わせの変化を自ら調節しようとして、歯ぎしりをするといわれています。

子供の歯ぎしりは、子供から大人へと成長するために起こる自然な行為と捉え、健康なお口を育んでいきましょう♪

ちゃんと歯みがきしたのに汚れが残っている！

歯磨きは汚れを落とすことを意識して磨かなれば、細かい汚れが蓄積しがちです。
口腔内は複雑な形状をしており、歯ブラシが届きにくく、磨きにくい部分があります。
漠然と歯磨きをして口の中がスッキリしたと感じても、実際にはしっかり磨けていないことが多いのです。

特に磨き残しの多い「歯と歯の隙間」と「歯と歯肉の隙間」をしっかり磨くコツを紹介します！

●歯と歯の隙間の磨き方のコツ

歯と歯の隙間は、歯ブラシの毛先が届きにくく汚れが溜まりやすい部分です。
歯と歯の隙間の汚れをブラシで取り除くには、ブラシを小刻みに動かして毛先が歯の隙間に留まるように磨く必要があります。

歯ブラシだけでは落としにくい部分なので、歯間ブラシやデンタルフロスの利用をおすすめします。

●歯と歯肉の隙間の磨き方のコツ

歯と歯肉の隙間は歯周ポケットと呼ばれる部分です。
この隙間には段差があるため、ブラッシングの幅が大きいと隙間の汚れが残ったままになりがちです。
歯と歯肉の境目に歯ブラシを少し傾けてあて、ブラシを前後に小刻みに動かしてブラッシングしましょう。

歯と歯肉の隙間の汚れを落とす時は、力を入れすぎないように丁寧に行うのがポイントです。

歯周病予防にもつながるので、しっかりと汚れを落としましょう。

定期的にプロの手でクリーニングしてもらうのも大変有効ですよ。

インプラントの材料でもある『チタン』って何？

インプラント治療に使用される「チタン」は、どんなものかご存知ですか？

歯科インプラントは、あごの骨に埋め入れるインプラントの本体とも言える「フィクスチャー（人工歯根）」と、失った歯の代わりとなる、人工歯・インプラント義歯とも呼ばれる「上部構造」、そしてこれら人工歯根と上部構造を連結する「アバットメント」の3つの部品で構成されています。

そのフィクスチャー（人工歯根）のほとんどはチタン製で、その他のパーツにもチタンが使われていることがあります。

また、チタンは歯科以外の医療でも使われており、ペースメーカーや骨折した時の固定ボルト、人工関節などとして幅広く応用されています。

実は、チタンは次のような特性があるため、医療の現場でよく使用されているのです。

■　身体に優しい
・・・金属アレルギーがでにくく、身体に対して有害な作用を及ぼしにくい

■　強くて軽い
・・・重さは鉄の約半分で、鋼鉄以上の強度がある

■　さびにくい
・・・海水や酸に対しても高い耐食性を示す

しかし、ごく稀にチタンアレルギーを示す方もおられます。
不安がある方は、治療の前に歯医者さんに相談してみてくださいね。
