気温が低くなると歯の痛みを感じるようになる、という方はいませんか？
寒くなると肩凝りが酷くなるように、歯の痛みも出やすくなることがあります。
今日は寒い日の歯痛についてお話をしたいと思います。

【寒い日に起こる歯痛の原因と対処法】
●歯ぎしり・食いしばり
寒さを我慢しているとき、お口の周りの筋肉は緊張状態にあります。
それによって必要以上に噛む力が強くなり、歯に加わる力が大きくなりすぎて痛みとして感じることがあります。
また、寒さに耐えて寝ていると無意識に歯ぎしりをしていることがあります。
そしてその力は体重の何倍もの力だと言われています。
起床時に歯が痛むという方は、寝る時の室温や寝具を見直してみるといいかもしれません。
冬場はお口の中のためにも、身体を冷やさないようにし、必ず温かいお風呂に入り体を温めるようにしましょう。
●象牙質知覚過敏
歯の象牙質と呼ばれる部分に寒気や冷気が入り込んで痛みを感じることもあります。
いわゆる知覚過敏です。
知覚過敏とは、歯の表面にあるエナメル質が削られ、象牙質が露出してしまって起こります。
象牙質がむき出しになってしまうと、歯の神経に繋がっている象牙細管と呼ばれる穴まで露出してしまいます。
歯の神経は、痛みを感じたり冷たいと感じる伝達気管です。
知覚過敏が原因の場合は、知覚過敏用の歯磨き粉を使用すると改善される場合があります。
それでも改善しない場合は、歯医者さんでお薬を塗ってもらったり、
露出してしまった象牙質の部分をコーティングしてもらうなどの治療を受けると良いでしょう。
●かぶせ物や詰め物が冷えると招く痛み
クラウンと呼ばれているかぶせものや、インレーと呼ばれている詰め物。
材質によっては温度差により神経が残っている場合は痛みとして感じられることがあります。
エナメル質と同じように、歯の一部分を守るように修復している素材は歯の神経に近い位置へセットされているケースがあります。
修復している材料が冷えると神経に近い位置へその冷たさが伝わり痛みとして認識してしまいます。
このような状態は、ご家庭での判断や対処法はないですし、詰め物の境目に虫歯ができている可能性もあるので、
歯医者さんにご相談されるのが良いでしょう。
●歯ぐきの血行不良
歯を支えている歯茎は体の末端にあたり、歯茎には無数の毛細血管があります。
冷えにより歯茎で血行不良が起きると、歯茎の免疫力が下がってしまいます。
健康時は歯茎の免疫機能が働き、歯周病菌を抑え込むことができています。
ところが、歯茎の血行不良で免疫力が下がると歯周病菌は待っていましたとばかりに悪さをし始めてしまいます。
歯周病は歯茎の病気ですが、歯周病により歯が痛いと感じることもあります。
こちらは、歯周病が原因となることが多いので、早急に歯医者さんにて診察を受けることをおすすめします。
【まとめ】
寒くて肩凝りが酷くなっている上に、歯痛まで起こるとかなり辛い状態になってしまうと思います。
できるだけ体を温めて体の筋肉の緊張が続かないようにしたいですね。
また、寒いのが原因ではなく、虫歯や歯周病が原因で起きている歯痛の可能性も多いです。
