「eライン」とはなにか知っていますか？
顔を横から見たときに、鼻の先端と顎の先端を結んだ線のことを言い、1954年に歯科矯正医のロバート・リケッツが提唱した、横顔を見たときの美の基準のことです。
人差し指を鼻先と顎先に真っすぐ付けたときに、唇が人差し指に付かない状態が理想のeラインと言われています。
ただ、eラインは欧米人を基準に作られたため、少し鼻の低い人種である日本人にこの基準を当てはめると、理想の横顔の人は少ないです。
この美しいeラインを作るポイントは
・鼻の高さや顎が適度に出ていること
・歯の位置が正しい位置に収まっていること
・下顎の位置
などが挙げられます。
そのため歯並びが悪いと、eラインにも影響を与えるのです。
例えば、出っ歯（上顎前突）の場合は上唇が、受け口（下顎前突）の場合は下唇が、口元が突出している口ゴボ（上下顎前突）の場合は上下の唇が、それぞれeラインより、はみ出してしまいます。
ですが、歯列矯正をして歯並びをキレイにすることによって、eラインを美しく整えられる可能性があります。
しかし口腔内の状況に大きく左右されるため、歯科医師としっかり相談することが必要です。

However, there is a possibility that the e-line can be beautifully adjusted by orthodontic treatment to make the alignment of teeth clean.
